Artec Leo batteries can be charged in two ways:
Directly inside Artec Leo
Using the optional Artec Leo Smart Battery Charger (external dual-bay charger)
While standard charging inside the scanner works in most cases, batteries that have been stored in a fully discharged state or have aged due to extensive use may have a noticeably reduced capacity (runtime), or in some cases, may no longer recharge at all.
Reviving dead or old batteries can be attempted by using the external Artec Leo Smart Battery Charger. This charger is equipped with a special battery re-calibration feature which can help restore the battery.
Important Notes
Recalibration is only possible with the optional Artec Leo Smart Battery Charger.
In many cases, completely flat batteries can be successfully recalibrated.
-
If a battery is severely degraded, recalibration will not succeed and the battery will need replacement.
Using the Artec Leo Smart Battery Charger
Setup
Place the charger on a flat, stable surface, away from heat and moisture.
Connect the DC connector from the power supply to the back of the charger.
Plug the power supply into a mains AC outlet using the supplied cable.
All LEDs will briefly flash — this indicates that power is present.
Charging the Battery
Insert the battery into one of the charging bays.
Ensure the 5-way connector is fully seated.
Charging starts automatically.
Battery status is shown via LEDs in the status window.
LED Status Indications
LED Status |
Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green flashing | Battery charging |
| Green solid | Battery fully charged |
| Blue flashing | Battery in re-calibration mode |
| Blue solid | Battery fuel gauge successfully calibrated |
| Red flashing | Battery fuel gauge requires re-calibration |
| Red solid | Error |
Battery Re-calibration Procedure
Insert the battery into one of the charging bays.
Press the Re-calibrate button in front of the corresponding bay.
-
Observe the LED:
Blue flashing – re-calibration in progress
Blue solid – re-calibration completed successfully
(!) Re-calibration can take a significant amount of time.
If Re-calibration Fails
If the LED turns solid red, remove the battery for a few seconds.
Reinsert the battery and attempt re-calibration again.
If multiple attempts consistently result in a red LED, the battery is most likely irrecoverable and should be replaced.
